Preity Zinta to working with Leonardo DiCaprio and Naomi Campbell
Bollywood actress Preity Zinta will soon be working with Hollywood superstar Leonardo DiCaprio and British supermodel Naomi Campbell.
Well, the three stars will not get together for an upcoming film but to create awareness on the perils of tiger poaching. According to reports in the media, Preity Zinta has joined international celebrities Leonardo DiCaprio and Naomi Campbell in a project which works towards saving the tiger.
It is true that the number of tigers in India and around the world have been decreasing at a very fast pace, largely on account of the lessening of jungles and shrubbery and the changing environmental conditions
. And this is exactly what Preity Zinta, Leonardo DiCaprio and Naomi Campbell want to preach during their extensive tours to various tiger reserves around the world. The threesome were also the celebrity faces at the Global Tigers Initiative organized by Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin in his country.
The dimpled Bollywood beauty may have taken a sabbatical from acting, but she is making full use of her time globe-trotting to create awareness on the tiger saving project and has also become the brand ambassador of a couple of well known companies.
Preity Zinta is also an avid user of Twitter and several posts over the past couple of weeks point to her association with the tiger saving campaign.
Preity Zinta has made the country proud by trying to protect India's national animal. When will you do your bit to save the paltry 1409 tigers that now exist in India?

Preity upset with cocaine abuse reports
Preity Zinta is suing at least seven websites for crores of rupees after they published reports based on allegedly fabricated information about her being into substance abuse.
The sexy actress is maha upset that the sites have even reported that they have seen her name stored in a cocaine dealer's phone and that the person also had a picture of her using the drug. The reports also claimed that Preity had checked into a rehab programme in the US.
According to a Bollywood source, Preity has already taken up the matter with the Cyber Cell of the Mumbai Police and got in touch with her lawyer. She is not taking this lightly as the same news has been churned out to several websites and it looks like the source is the same person. According to Preity, the news is totally fabricated and she has demanded that the sites share the picture in which she is taking coke, with her legal aides. The actress claims her brand image and equity is at stake because of such news and she intends to get to the bottom of this.
BT has also heard that Preity was recently harassed by a Delhi-based person and she is doubting that this man is responsible for spreading rumours because of her fallout with him. Sources say that preliminary research from Preity's end has revealed that the source of the damaging information is in Delhi. Though Preity could not be contacted for comment, her spokesperson admitted that legal action is being taken to see that such false information doesn't damage Preity's image and equity.
Preity apparently has been unnerved by such shocking reports, but she is definitely not going to take it lying low. Once she gets confirmed verification on the identity of the person who is spreading such rumours, she will shoot off a legal notice and sue the person without any delay.

For Preity, family comes first
We have learnt that the actress is planning to take her grandmother to US and ring in 2011 with family and close relatives who stay in America.
We hear that she is also looking to take her grandmom for some shopping as it will be mighty cold in the US in December. Preity's grandmom is really excited to travel and we hear she has made plans to what all she wants to do in the States.

Shiney Ahuja & Priety Zinta's Har Pal to hit screen next months
Jahnu Barua loves to surround himself with things that remind him of his roots. Like the bamboo screen, the jappi (traditional bamboo hat), or posters of Assam that adorn the wall of his office at Famous Studio in Mumbai’s Mahalaxmi. In the midst of these sits the soft-spoken director who’s made his name promoting the northeast in his films. However, his latest, Har Pal, set to release in December, will not make headlines for being set in the region. Rather, it will be remembered as the movie that Shiney Ahuja was working on when he was arrested on alleged charges of rape. Har Pal also stars Preity Zinta, who’s making a comeback to the big screen, as a resident of Shillong, with 15 to 20 per cent of it shot in and around Shillong.
It’s A Wrap
Fortunately for Barua, the shooting of the film, which began in 2008, was completed by the time the controversy took place. “We only had post production work to complete, so we weren’t so affected by the unfortunate episode,” he clarifies. But the controversy is bound to create some curiosity. Barua is aware of that and feels it may just be a blessing in disguise. “Finally, though it depends on the audience and how they look at it,” says Barua, adding, “However, such a controversy may garner popularity for the film or work against it.”
For all that, Barua has nothing bad to say about his star. “I like him as a person, and whatever interaction I had with him, he was quite disciplined,” he explains, adding, “I am a strict filmmaker, usually the first one to arrive on set and the last to leave. None of the crew, including Shiney, ever showed indiscipline during the course of our shooting.”
As an actor, Barua seems to have liked Ahuja. “He is a good actor, and it all depends on how one is guided by the director. He has a lot of potential,” he says. “Preity, being more popular and experienced, was chosen because the girl’s character (which is stronger than the male lead) demanded someone like her. I wanted a fresh looking star opposite her. Shiney fitted the role.”
Did the controversy about Ahuja affect his work? “The film is totally independent,” clarifies Barua. “What happens to an individual member has nothing to do with the film,” he says.
I LUV Love Storys
While Barua waits for Har Pal to release, he’s keeping himself busy. At the moment he’s engaged in pre-production on two unnamed Hindi projects. “Hopefully, by the middle of next year I will be able to finalise them,” he says. And pre-production for this filmmaker means a great deal of work. According to Barua, the task seems endless. “Even the script takes six to seven rounds of drafts before it finally takes shape,” he says. Scripting alone can even take a year or so as it keeps evolving.”
He adds, “I am very particular when I deal with sensitive and serious subject matter. One has to do a lot of research. It has to be satisfactory.” This level of research and detailing means that a film helmed by him can take about four to five years to be completed. For example, it took him four years to make Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Mara in 2005.
The two proposed projects would be love stories, shot in India. Again, this is another trait of Barua’s, who believes in showcasing the unseen parts of India instead of rushing overseas. “I would rather explore newer destinations in India,” explains Barua, but acknowledges that “there are too many practical reasons why people opt to head overseas as there are many hassles in India.”
However, this doesn’t faze him. So, his upcoming Indo-British production, Homing Pigeon, will be filmed in the tea gardens of Assam. This is a love story set in the early ’50s to the present day, and will go on the floors by end of next year.
Barua is also lending his expertise to the Assam Tourism Board. “I miss Assam tremendously,” says Barua, who shifted to Mumbai seven years ago. “There is more to Assam than the Brahmaputra, tea gardens and the one-horned rhino,” says Barua. “There is also a mental block about security – the campaign needs to clear these doubts.”
All About Assam
Barua is not new to the task of being a poster boy for his home state. He has a huge fan club in the region and responds to the 15 to 20 emails per week he receives from people in the Northeast.
Even his decision to shift from crowded Wadala to a quieter part of Mumbai in Sanpada, about four hours’ drive from his office, has more to do with nostalgia for home than anything else. “I like open spaces and areas, which is why I decided to move here. It reminds me of home,” he says

Preity Zinta Second INNINGS
Preity Zinta on her team Kings XI Punjab being ousted out of IPL by the BCCI, her high-profile business and more.
What was your first reaction when you heard about your team Kings XI Punjab being ousted from IPL?
I am still absorbing the news. After working so hard in the IPL and putting my everything in building this team, this is not what I expected. I am shocked.
But there were a lot of reports about you selling off your team.
There have been speculations galore since the past two years about me selling my team. But I really didn’t want to talk about my business so I didn’t say anything except that I was always going to continue being there.
What about your cricket-based series Behind The Seams?
The series is not going to come out immediately, it will take time. It is part of a long process and we are working on it.
What is the best thing about being a businesswoman?
The boardroom meetings and the challenges of working on various strategies to boost the business are all very exciting.
Which businessmen do you idolise?
I look up to Mukesh and Anil Ambani, Ratan Tata and Vijay Mallya because of the way they have taken their businesses to another level.
What is it that you don’t like about being a businesswoman?
When I am acting, I only have to worry about me, but when it comes to my business I have to worry about everything, from every member of my team, to the costumes and promotions. It can get very stressful and I missed the easy-going life of an actress. So here I am.
So what are you working on presently?
My weight! I had put on so much weight and I am busy trying to knock it off with a healthy diet and workouts!
Have you signed any films?
I do have some films coming up but I would rather wait till everything is on paper. I had taken some time off and now that I have decided that I want to act it will take a little time before anything is finalized.
What about your film Har Pal?
It’s a beautiful film and I hope it releases soon.
You are very active socially. Which cause is closest to your heart?
I try to do what I can for underprivileged women and children. I have adopted 34 girls in Rishikesh and look after their every need. God has given me so much that I want to give something back in my own small way.
The news that Preity Zinta will be doing a Yash Raj film has been doing the rounds for a long time now. And now there is a strong buzz that the actress will be a part of Mere Brother Ki Dulhan –– the YRF project starring Imran Khan and Katrina Kaif directed by debutant director Ali Abbas Zafar.

Preity’s father sings praises
Guess the foster father does have a role in his star-daughter's world. For Shandaar is now a regular at Preity's events. The other day the dimpled actress was having a special screening of her Shiney Ahuja film Har Pal. And papa Shandaar was present at the preview theatre.
Of course Shandaar wouldn't miss an opportunity to say hello to all the shutterbugs and journalists who were hanging around the theatre waiting to get some celebrity bytes and photos. And we hear Shandaar was singing accolades about Preity to all those who would lent him an ear. Good PR machinery at work.

Preity Zinta to address the Oxford Union
The best of East and West will meet in the UK by the end of this
month as one of India's hottest talents addresses the Oxford Union, the world's most prestigious debating society.
One of Indian cinema's leading ladies and the star of over 30 films, Preity Zinta will answer questions from Oxford students on her experience of being a part of the world's largest film industry and an iconic figure in a male-dominated business.
Preity Zinta is considered as a role model to many who aspire to achieve success through hard work and honesty. Zinta is the latest in a long list of prominent speakers to have visited the Oxford Union, which has also hosted former Prime Minister Winston Churchill, as well as current Prime Minister David Cameron, US Presidents Reagan and Nixon, the Dalai Lama, Stephen Hawking and Mother Teresa. The Union is no stranger to the world of entertainment either, claiming Michael Jackson, Natalie Portman, Pierce Brosnan, Clint Eastwood and Martin Sheen as past speakers.
When asked about the upcoming visit, Zinta said that she is very excited at the prospect of speaking at such a prestigious debating society.
Ash Sangha, Vice President of the Oxford Union, who was responsible for inviting Preity Zinta, commented, "I am very excited to be welcoming Preity Zinta to speak here at the Oxford Union Society this coming October. She is quite simply a global superstar. Throughout nearly 200 years of history, the Oxford Union has heard from high profile figures who are the leading lights in their field, and Preity's film roles, and her deep commitment to causes beyond cinema, such as cricket, journalism and philanthropy have captured the imagination of the watching world. Her charity work for the Loomba Foundation is very close to her heart as well her determination to stop Human Trafficking especially of children and young women. "As much loved for her un-moderated honesty as her career high points, I know that our members here in Oxford cannot wait to have the chance to meet her and hear from her," said Sangha.
Sallu to launch Being Human watches, tees
This is one fashion coup only Salman Khan could have pulled off. On Saturday, Bollywood's leading beauties including Katrina Kaif, Kareena Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Bipasha Basu, Preity Zinta, Rani Mukerji, Karisma Kapur and Sushmita Sen will keep their professional rivalries aside and step onto the ramp for his Being Human show at the HDIL India Couture Week 2010.This will be a kick-ass, glitzy event with tremendous emphasis on fashion. Salman will be the only man walking alongside the beauties (unlike last year when the Khan-daan waved to the audience sporting fundu jackets and jhintak belts). Anaita Shroff Adjania has conceptualised the show in which each actress will depict a decade in fashion. With film clips and magazine shots splashed on the backdrop, the 'heroine of the decade' will step up the tempo in some Indian and Western ensembles backed by groovy musical scores.
It's predominantly a women's wear show with collections by Manish Malhotra, Raakesh Agarvwal, Gauri and Nainika, Sunaina Puri, Rohit and Rahul. Salman's philanthropic work attracted Forevermark, the diamond brand from DeBeers, which is providing jewellery for the show contributing to the foundation.
On Saturday, Salman will also launch his watch collection at the HDIL India Couture Week and two weeks later, the Being Human T-shirts in Indian and international markets.

With the age to retire from active choreography nearing, it is Saroj Khan’s unwillingness to retire from the industry altogether that has had her consider film direction. “I know that it is a matter of few years before I have to give up choreography. But I am not yet ready to give up the film industry . I have been a technical person throughout my career and the role of director suits me best,” admits the 62-year-old.
The veteran choreographer is making her film making debut with a thriller-drama. The script is being worked on by both scriptwriter Robin Bhatt and writer and comedian Kader Khan, who has been living in Canada for the past few years. The film, untitled as of now, will go on the floors in October. Though the cast is not finalised yet, the producers are in talks with Preity Zinta for the role, which will be central to the film. The movie will, however, have two lead male actors — one will be a newcomer; while the production team is in talks with an A-list actor for the other, which will be a special appearance.

Preity Zinta jai jawan
As soon as Preity stepped out of the aircraft in Hisar, the bubbly actress took over. And the jawans were completely charmed
Preity also went on 4 different types of tanks, some which nearly took her underwater.

The actress also met children who were differently abled in the Asha School. The Army takes care of this school and the children, which include civilian kids. Preity spent a considerable amount of time with these children and they looked pretty inseperable by the end of it.

Preity had a great time hanging with the Army in Hisar. Not just did she share an emotional reunion with her elder brother, but she had a fascinating time with the troops.

Time for hard decisions
Upset over Kings XI Punjab’s dismal performance in the third edition of the Indian Premier League, Bollywood star and co-owner of the team Preity Zinta on Monday called for “hard decisions” against the players not doing well.“As in the T20 matches it is necessary to rotate the strike, time has come to take some hard decisions,” Zinta told Hindustan Times in an exclusive interview.
Zinta, who spent three days in the hill town, hinted at major introspection to give a fresh look to the team that finished at the bottom of the standings. “We need to look afresh at the team’s performance,” she said.
When asked about allegations that some team members underperformed, she did not comment on it but said, “Team’s performance has not been up to the mark.”
“We will come back with a bang,” said Zinta, whose combined efforts with Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association president Anurag Thakur, fetched two matches for the hill town.
“I took personal interest to get IPL matches to Dharamsala,” said Zinta, adding that she is keen to take cricket to her hometown Shimla in future.
“It is my dream to organise IPL matches in Shimla. Unfortunately, we don’t have a playing ground there,” she said. Zinta has requested the HPCA to “construct a world-class stadium in Shimla” as well.
Zinta said that the trip to Dharamsala was an emotional experience for her.
“HPCA has constructed a very good stadium here. And the response in Dharamsala has been overwhelming, “ Zinta said after their final league match.
