Time for some cyber crime for Preity
It has been quite some time since we saw Preity Zinta on screen. The actress, who was last seen in a song in Main Aur Mrs Khanna, has admitted she is on a look out for challenging scripts.
And if she is fond of hacking, she might just be working in a movie on cyber crime. Little known director Venkatesh Naidu has apparently approached Preity for such a film and narrated the script to her.
The film will be produced by new producer C. G. Patel who had earlier financed Mr Black Mr White.
"It is a story that should be liked by the new generation as it is on hacking. That film will have the story of five girls and two boys. We have spoken to Preity Zinta for it and are also trying to reach Anil Kapoor. We hope to get a good star cast for the film," says Patel.
Naidu had earlier made a film called Coffee House starring Girish Karnad and Vishakha Singh.
Anil and Preity earlier starred together in Armaan , along with Gracy Singh and Amitabh Bachchan.

Dino About Preity and Har Pal
He hates item songs, but couldn’t resist the temptation to do the rocking dance number for Jahnu Barua’s “Har Pal”. It’s his first item song, his only guest appearance so far and the actor is more than excited about it.
“Yeah. It is just a guest appearance. It’s my first item song and that too a really rocking number by Pritam. And I get to play a DJ,” Dino told IANS.
“I hate the term ‘item song’. It reduces me to a commodity. But the track was too sizzling to resist and I’m getting to dance with two of the hottest ladies in showbiz. I mean Preity and Isha,” he added.
Dino and Preity go back a long way.
“I know her from the time she first came to Mumbai. We were both new and great friends. I feel so proud to see her taking such confident strides. And she’s also become such a terrific dancer. I’m enjoying the thought of dancing with her and Isha. Vaibhavi Merchant will choreograph,” said Dino, who recently launched his production company and shot an ad film with Karan Johar and Kareena Kapoor.
Karan’s former assistant Tarun Mansukhani has directed the ad film.
There’s another reason for Dino’s guest appearance.
“I wanted to work with a director from the other kind of cinema. Jahnu Barua is fantastic. I’m now keen to work with more off-mainstream directors like Rituparno Ghosh and Deepa Mehta.”
Apsara Awards – All glitter & shine
The 5th Apsara Film and Television Producers Guild Awards that unfolded yesterday, was of a grand affair – with the presence of glittering hi-profiled celebrities of the screen town. Bachchans, Khans, Kapoors and many other big names had descended the arena to sparkle the event. It was quite refreshing to see Preity Zinta and Arjun Rampal together, who acted as the hosts for the event.
The evening was lighted up with some fabulous performances by few Bollywood hotties like Shahrukh Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Hrithik Roshan, Arshad Warsi and Vivek Oberoi. Most importantly, the event honoured the industry’s noted personalities for their remarkable contribution to cinema. Among the jury were Ravi Chopra, Ketan Desai and Sajid Nadiadwala who had chosen the winners. Here’s a peek at the winners’ list:

But the release was postponed and the film will now see the light of day only in March 2010. The cast, also including Dharmendra and Isha Khoppikar, along with director Jahnu Barua isn’t too happy about the delay, despite the completion of the film. When BT contacted Jahnu, he said, “It’s producer Kitu Juneja’s decision. He probably didn’t want the film to release because of Shiney’s case.”

Amitabh Bachchan on Preity Zinta
And then just as it had started it ends. I drive home to a full dining table – Amaan and Ayaan Ali sons of Ustad Amjad Ali Khan that sarod maestro, and friends of the family from when they were 4-5 years of age, and the ever effervescent Preity Zinta over for dinner. And PeeZee, the non stop talking machine, having us all in splits on her narration of various events in her recent life. She and Jaya shared a most maternal instinct relationship during the making of ‘Kal Ho Na Ho’ and have maintained it since. Its almost a Mother daughter thing.

Preity Zinta and Arjun Rampal to host Chevrolet Apsara Awards
MUMBAI: Preity Zinta and Arjun Rampal to host the star studded Chevrolet Apsara Awards on Friday 8 January, 2010.
Rampal has been out of Mumbai for quite some time, now. He was in London shooting for Sajid Khan’s Housefull and then Prakash Jha’s Rajniti in Bhopal after which he’s been shooting for debut director Siddharth Malhotra’s film which is a remake of Stepmom. He has also been busy with his restaurant in Delhi. Rampal said, “It’s been chaotic and strenuous especially after I strained my back. The sprain is making it difficult for me to move about. But I took a short break and I am much better now.”
For Zinta, nothing like the New Year to start anew. After the hectic Indian Premier League and her subsequent break up with beau and business partner, Ness Wadia in April last year in South Africa, she took off to the United States of America for a long holiday. News kept filtering in that Zinta was there for a holiday with old friends, while some said that she was there for some corrective surgery. Some said that she had enrolled for some course at the New York University and others opined that she was taking Spanish dancing classes. Zinta preferred to keep mum, but now she is back in circulation and starting off with a bang.

Hrithik Roshan is set to bring in his birthday tonight at a Juhu nightspot and has invited the usual Bollywood suspects. The venue is a change from the parties he hosts at home, as he does not want police trouble that has plagued him over the last two parties he held.
Our source said, “Hrithik had initially planned to have the party at his own house, but later opted for the nightclub as there had been issues with the cops when neighbours complained about the loud music. The nightspot is also quite popular with Bollywood stars.”
