Preity flashes dimples on Twitter

The fake Preity Zinta on Twitter with 1,40,000 followers has shocked the real Preity Zinta into making an appearance online .

The actress, who was informed by a friend about her fake profile on the social networking site, said, “The fake was using various quotes of mine from old interviews. Ask her or him to show the dimple then we shall see!” She now plans to “get my account verified and put up a photograph!”

Now on Twitter, Zinta says, “Just wanted to see for myself that someone was impersonating me! I felt that people were being cheated by a fake me.” While her pal director Karan Johar gave her a thumping welcome online, actor Riteish Deshmukh has sent her a “real kiss”.

Sources revealed that this Yashraj show will be laced with comedy and will serve as platform for couples. ‘Rishta.com’ will invite all the biggies of the industry, including the banner’s favourite stars, jaise ki Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukerji, Preity Zinta, Tabu, Uday Chopra, Riteish Deshmukh and others. But for the grand entry, they want their ‘Fanaa’ star Aamir Khan, sources quipped in.

exclusive promo chance pe dance, Shahid Kapoor and Genelia D'Souza

some capture scene from chance pe dance

"I'm a magician. I can do anything." - Hrithik Roshan

By: Aamna Haider Isani

Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan talks to Instep about perfection, patriotism and Pakistan

Hrithik Roshan is impossible to ignore if you're in Mumbai. He stares down from every second giant billboard, his piercing green eyes convincing you to subscribe to Reliance or wear Provogue. He is by no means Bollywood's biggest star but he is the most visible, and that vision of him is one that his fans awe at. When he walks into the India Couture Week lounge, he isn't surrounded by bodyguards but spotlights, cameramen calling out his name and nickname in hope for that one exclusive shot that will make it to the front page the next day. He stops and talks to everyone, unperturbed by neither the crowd nor the hysteria. It's obvious that while many other superstars prefer to walk in with a human shield of bodyguards protecting them, Hrithik is comfortable in his skin and unafraid to expose it to the harsh spotlights.

From the very public introductions made at India Couture Week to the much more intimate setting of his home, I end up in the Il Pallazzo Building where he lives, to interview him. That appearances do not matter is as much the nature of Mumbai as it is of Karachi, and the façade of Hrithik's residence belies the palatial interior of the four floors he and his family occupy. But despite the unassuming exterior, his address is no secret as a small band of street dwellers are constantly camped outside, playing the hit tune of 'Kaho Naa Pyar Hai' on shehnai whenever they see his car arrive.

Amused by the serenading fans as I wait by the window in his drawing room, I observe his home that is embellished with books, art, statues and portraits that raise his father - Rakesh Roshan - to deity-like proportions. It is apparent that he is the most important person in Hrithik's life. The impersonal space of his drawing room is speckled with evidence of life with family pictures. The mammoth dining table - perfect for the kind of soirees that celebrities are used to hosting - slowly gets trussed up with Diwali baskets to be sent out. It is a festive week in Mumbai and every home is decorated with marigold garlands, well oiled and brightly lit diyas, rangolis and flowers; and Hrithik's is no exception. Drawing a parallel, it is very much like any Pakistani home during Eid. I am allowed a moment to absorb it all before I am brought back with a sudden "Hi".

Hrithik Roshan. If you're thinking of Hrithik Roshan as Emperor Akbar from Jodhaa Akbar or the enigmatic Mr A from Dhoom 2, then you are headed for disappointment. He's nothing like the sweet, muscular young boy that grappled Pakistan as well as India in total fascination when his debut film Kaho Naa Pyar Hai released.

"I knew I would be liked a lot," he says later, when he's talking about becoming an overnight sensation. "I always know the background hum, which is either ecstasy or fear, and when I watched Kaho Naa Pyar Hai the background hum was ecstatic. I didn't know it would make this big a mark though, the success of my first film was an anomaly. What happened with my first film, it hadn't happened before."

He may sound arrogant and all high and mighty but in person Hrithik is anything but. He just comes across as an incredibly confident and fearless actor, someone deriving strength from the knowledge that he will put his one hundred percent into everything he does and in return will be as successful as he deserves to be.

"I live to learn how I can make my life a better story," he introspects and one has to make a repetitive effort to pull him out of philosophizing. "I see my life as a film of which I am writing my own screenplay and I have a climax I have to reach. I want to see how many roles I have to play to get there. I am not afraid of life. I am fearless and that is the lesson I would want to propagate but that's not the kind of lesson you can teach."

Philosophy aside, Hrithik is down to earth, continuously playing down his super stardom as merely a role assigned to him. Dressed in jeans, a well worn t-shirt and slippers a size too big for his feet, he's not at all intimidating, though he is as intense and attentive: a man who makes you comfortable when he smiles at you, not insecure. Hrithik is also a lot less athletic and slimmer than the muscular action hero we tend to associate with Krrish. But that, he explains, is because he hasn't been to the gym for five months. He is living out the role he plays in his upcoming film Guzaarish; that of a paralyzed man for which he had to put up a weak and unhealthy appearance.

The shehnai lingers on from the pavement below.

"That must be so flattering," I turn around to say to him. "Does this happen all the time?"

"All the time," he smiles, adding that he does sometimes go out on the balcony to wave at them.

"Quite like the pope," I think aloud.

"It's no fun thinking you're god," he replies. "You can fool yourself into thinking you're invincible but that's just a bubble. People tell me that I have great responsibility as a role model but I don't think like that. That would be feeding my ego and ego is a bottomless pit. Who I am does not change the way I wake up every morning. I don't pretend to be a star. It's hopeless and meaningless to think that way."

With that he lights up his second cigarette, much to my surprise, reiterating that Hrithik Roshan is not out to play stereotypes to a role model.

"I am usually a health freak but I'm living on the other extreme of the spectrum these days," he explains. "I'm smoking in my current film (Guzaarish) and I haven't worked out for five months because I have to show a fat belly. I'm playing a person who's paralyzed so since I can't work out I said to myself 'why not experience as much as you can'.

I like to live the roles I play and borrow experiences from my life. Three years ago I was told by doctors that I would lose the use of my knee. I was on crutches for three months. Doctors had given up and I was given a year to walk. I took that emotion and exaggerated it to experience what it might feel to be paralyzed."

At this point one of the many houseboys dressed in white brings in a strawberry milk shake that turns out to be a protein shake: Hrithik's lunch. He says he has no time to have a proper lunch, despite these being the Diwali holidays in Mumbai.

"I haven't been this stressed for two years," he says, "because a lot of things are happening at the same time. There's the whole marketing of Kites. It's been two years since my last release."

Hrithik isn't nervous but anxiety is prevalent because Kites will be his first film since Jodhaa Akbar two years ago. I tell him that in Pakistan we thought Jodhaa Akbar was historically flawed and he shrugs it off.

"I involve myself in the film until the first print is released. Then it's on to the next."

I also try getting him to admit that Bollywood actors have problems with the Urdu diction. They cannot pronounce their 'gh' and 'kh' properly.

"Did you see Akbar?" he questions with the raise of an eyebrow. "Gh…kh…" he delivers to perfection, then adds, "I can do anything. I'm a magician. I do my job as close to perfection as I can."

And it's this perfection that Kites and Guzaarish is banking on. I ask him whether the release of Indian films in Pakistan (thus building a huge market) has made an impact on the kind of themes picked up in Bollywood. They are getting more sub-continent friendly and focus less on the Pakistan versus India animosity.

"I don't like to see the world in a divisive way," Hrithik over-simplifies the discussion.

"I don't like the word patriotism because it's a way of conditioning peoples' mindsets about a sense of belonging to one place and pointing a finger across the border as a threat. For example, if you go to the neighbour's house and tell the mother that I want your son to go kill the other neighbour she'll slap you and tell you to go get lost. But if you take the national flag and go tell her that her son needs to kill thousands of faceless sons in the honour of her country, she won't blink an eye and in fact will be proud. That's what patriotism does. It's divisive and it's destructive. I don't believe in it.

"So I don't look at movies in the same way, movies are made for our entire species. There is oneness in my head about who we are. I don't see people from other countries as separate.

I see myself as a part of every person I meet."

"So you'd come to Pakistan?" I persist with the knowledge that many stars have refused at the risk of appearing unpatriotic.

"Of course. Why is that even a question?" he frowns. "It's not a thought."

Would he think of stepping into co-productions with Pakistan, despite the fact that many Indo-Pak releases have not done well at the box office?

"Nothing is impossible," he replies with conviction. "It doesn't mean that if a couple of films haven't done well then they never will. Everything is divisive right now and for our ultimate survival this divisiveness needs to be eradicated. How? I'll have to become president!"

Hear, hear, I think, while undiplomatically steering the conversation to another unpleasant topic: how the media covers entertainment in India. How a kiss becomes bigger than the movie (Dhoom 2) and how on-screen chemistry between two leading actors becomes the strongest sales point for a film (rumours regarding him and Barbara Mori). By now I am prepared that he will either disagree with what I say or any question I ask Hrithik will set him off on a long drawn philosophical answer. I prove to be right when he replies…

"I have a lot of complaints about the media - and I say this without singling out the Indian press - and the way things are reported. The way we report is more business. I wouldn't be happy with my sons watching the news channels because they only talk about distress and the reporting is incorrect. It is dangerous. We are not making the world a better place. The world can be a better place if we only look at it the right way. Reporting is always about dramatization, pointing a finger. That applies to entertainment news as well. But we are evolving as human beings and this will change."

Bollywood is evolving too, I ask, but can it ever evolve into being heroine centric rather than male dominated?

"What you're saying doesn't mean anything," he reflects. "There are no heroine centric films because not many people are making good heroine centric films. That doesn't mean it cannot change. People felt the same way about super heroes in Bollywood and when we were making Krrish they laughed at us. But it was a hit. Its all about good films and bad films, not types of films"

Seeing that it's getting late I ask him to return my dictaphone which he's thoughtfully been holding close to his mouth during the interview. Hrithik Roshan is very thoughtful; I draw a mental conclusion, when he asks whether I was served anything when I arrived. Out of sheer mischief I ask him how much pressure he got to take time out for this interview.

"Not much," he smiles. "If I had it my way I would still be at my office working on the marketing of Kites and I would have had a full lunch instead of a protein shake. But you make sacrifices for the people you love. I love Farah (Khan Ali, his wife Suzanne's sister) and when she wanted me to do this I didn't even ask her why."

Instep would like to thank Farah Khan Ali for organizing this interview

Double dhamaka for the Roshans and Khans

Source: TNN

Date: October 26, 2009

She turned another year older on Monday, and he hosted a big Bollywood bash on Sunday night at their Juhu residence. The Khan siblings —Sussanne herself, Zayed Khan and Farah Khan Ali — were busy inviting all their friends through phone calls and SMSes till late that evening.

Twice as nice: We also got to know that it was Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan’s wedding anniversary on Sunday, and since Sussanne and Gauri are good friends, Hrithik made it a double celebration of sorts, raising a toast to the Khans as well! While Gauri came earlier with Kaajal Anand, Shah Rukh arrived a while later.

Couple capers: Speaking of couples in love, the just-engaged Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra were present too, taking in the congratulatory wishes being showered upon them. Dino Morea and Nandita Mahtani both were there as well. Ahem, they came together too accompanied by Renu Chainani.

The guest list... Also present were Parmeshwar Godrej, Arjun Rampal, Chunkey and Bhavna Panday, Sanjay and Maheep Kapoor, Farhan and a casually dressed in jeans and a tee Zoya Akhtar, Goldie Behl, Kunal Kapoor, Tushhar Kapoor, Seema Khan etc etc.

Preity still hasn't given me her DVDs: Marsh

MUMBAI: Australian cricketer Shaun Marsh amassed 616 runs from 11 matches at 68.44 for Kings XI Punjab in the inaugural edition of the IPL. He
was the batsman of the tournament. With boyish good looks, a killer but shy smile that made women miss a heartbeat or ten, the 26-year-old West Australian was also a massive hit with the franchisees. Why wouldn't he? He was bought for just $30,000. Boy, was that a steal? But hold on, he has a grouse against Preity Zinta, his team owner.

"I've told her I want to see some of her movies and she promised me some DVDs last year. I haven't got them yet. I'm supposed to catch up with her soon and maybe I can actually get some this time around if I'm lucky," the left-handed opening batsman said during a media session at a suburban hotel on Thursday.

Shaun, son of Australian opener Geoff Marsh, is back in the land where he made such a big name for himself in the T20 format. But this time, he will be dressed in the canary yellow uniform and be plotting the downfall of his Kings XI skipper Yuvraj Singh, in the 7-match ODI series. Is he expected to pass on some inside information on the Indian vice-captain, who is coming back from injury?

"Not really. We all know how dangerous Yuvraj can be and I'm sure all the bowlers will be getting their heads together to stop him. Hopefully, he doesn't score too many runs," Marsh, who is himself back after a hamstring injury forced him to take a five-month break, said.

Shaun has the game to score runs not just in Mohali, but all the venues, the question is will he get a chance? But that doesn't bother the southpaw. "I have come here with absolutely no expectations. I'm just happy to be selected. If I get a chance in the XI, I'll do my best," he says.

And if Shaun doesn't get an opportunity, he will have enough time to negotiate IPL offers as his success will surely make the Aussie a hot pick amongst other franchises. His response to that is a cold-blooded, "No chance of that. I'm a Kings XI Punjab man out and out. I'm playing for them in March."

Now, that's Preity solid loyalty. As a reward, can Ms Zinta hurry up with those DVDs please?

Deepika Padukone ‘kicks the butt’ on screen

1Soon after Bipasha Basu’s cigarette issue in Pankh , Deepika Padukone is the latest B-town beauty to develop cold feet when it comes to lighting up on the screen.Deepika was supposed to smoke for a couple of shots in her new project, Karthik Calling Karthik. But the buzz goes that she developed cold feet about it because she doesn’t smoke in real life.”Deepika was surely not enthused about the possibility of lighting up even on screen. She thought those few scenes might entice her to try out smoking in the future,” says the film’s producer Ritesh Sidhwani. “As a good producer, I didn’t want to instill a bad habit in an actor. So, I got organic cigarettes. She was happy with my decision. An actor shouldn’t be forced for such a thing if it can be avoided,” he adds. Organic cigarettes are made of exotic and organic herbs and do not contain tobacco or nicotine. They come with negligibly harmful side effects compared to regular cigarettes.

Some time back, Bipasha’s denial to smoke in Sudipto Chattopadhyay’s Pankh made news.Bipasha had also claimed that since she doesn’t smoke in real life, she won’t do it for a scene unless it’s absolutely necessary.”I refused to smoke for Corporate (directed by Madhur Bhandarkar) too. I detest smoking. At the same time, I have always maintained that if a role really demanded me to smoke, then sure I’ll do it,” she said. Chattopadhyay had to use a trick shot after her denial. A canister jar was placed in front of her which released smoke and it was shot in such a way that when she sings, it seems smoke is coming out of her mouth.Deepika, though, had shot for the drinking scenes in Imtiaz Ali’s Love Aaj Kal . Adds Sidhwani: “We ordered cigarettes which were free of any kind of tobacco or nicotine.

It has a sweet message in end. Farhan’s character advises her against it and also succeeds in getting her to quit smoking.” Of late, Bipasha and Deepika have probably been the only actresses to develop cold feet over smoking shots. Last year’s Madhur Bhandarkar-directed Fashion showed Priyanka Chopra and Kangna Ranaut smoking. Similarly, several Bollywood girls like Kareena Kapoor (Chameli), Rani Mukherjee (Bichoo), Preity Zinta (Chori Chori Chupke Chupke), Manisha Koirala (Company) smoked in movies but never made headlines over it.” Movies shouldn’t glorify or make smoking look cool,” says Sidhwani. “I think filmmakers should be responsible but if a character demands such traits, there’s no harm in it.

It’s all about a film’s need,” adds Sidhwani.Bollywood stunners, though, seem to be in a mood to kick the butt on screen.

Preity Zinta is back from her six-week vacation and is geared up to take on new films

By Subhash K Jha
Posted On Thursday, October 22, 2009 at 02:13:27 AM

Preity Zinta is back in Mumbai. People in the film industry had begun to wonder whether she had migrated from India. Preity laughs, "I haven't migrated to the US or any other country. I'm not going anywhere. Mumbai is my home and I am working here. I took a much-needed break after the IPL."
But while Preity was away, her home in Mumbai was ransacked and robbed, allegedly by her domestic help. She says, "Mere ghar main ho gayi solid chori. They took money and some jewellery. My mother came to Mumbai, spotted the theft and reported it immediately. It was her money that they took."

After a six-week, well spent vacation with brother and friends, Preity is back. She has always been travelling extensively, "I've always been a gypsy. Whether for my outdoor shoots or holidays, I'm frequently out of the country. On my way back, I stopped over in London."

Now she's back to listening to scripts. "I'm listening to some really interesting projects. Hopefully, I'll be signing a couple of films shortly. That would shut those up who want to write me off."

She is proud to admit that she is financially independent, "I'll never be broke and never have to depend on a man for money. Putting my time and effort into IPL was a wise decision."

Preity has had a make over and is back with a bang, "Seriously, I've come back, rejuvenated and charged and raring to go."

Preity Arjun No seats!

and Arjun miss their seats at Karan's show

Preity Zinta had more than a ringside view at good friend Karan Johar's debut fashion show last evening. By the time the pretty lady arrived, the show had already begun. Not wanting to miss a further minute, Preity casually plonked herself right on the ground, right next to the ramp!
Maybe Arjun Rampal could learn a lesson or two from her. He casually sauntered in midway through the show and stood right next to the ramp, cheering lustily. It was a good show of support, but quite inconvenient for the audiences, who had to repeatedly ask the actor to stop blocking their view.

Main Aurr Mrs Khanna

Main Aurr Mrs KhannaStarring: Salman Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Sohail Khan, Mahek Chahal, Nauheed Cyrusi, Yash Tonk and Bappi Lahiri
Director: Prem Soni
Rating: **

Samir (Salman) and Raina (Kareena) are married and settled in Melbourne, Australia. What started of as a loving relationship which lead to a quick marriage between the two has now turned into a complicated situation what with Samir facing major hurdles in his career to some wrong work decisions that he had taken.

Raina is working as a waitress to support their house.

Jobless Samir gets an opportunity to work in Singapore and make a new beginning. He takes Raina along with him but only to tell her at the airport that he has booked her ticket for India to go back to his parents and that he will come back to her once things fall in place in his career.

After Samir catches his flight for Singapore, a dejected and sad, Raina keeps waiting at the airport lounge right till the final boarding announcement for her flight to India comes in.

A bar tender at the cafeteria in the departure lounge, Akash (Sohail) sees her plight and offers help. He falls for her instantly but only to realize she is married.

Raina gets confused whether to go to India or stay back in Australia. Just then, help comes in form of her friend Nina (Nauheed) who arranges for a job through a friend (Mahek Chahal) and Raina decides to stay back.

Incidentally, Raina gets a job at the jewellery shop situated bang opposite of that of Akash’s café. Gradually friendship grows between the two. But what happens after Samir arrives back to take Raina along with him to Singapore forms the rest of the film.

Debutante writer-director Prem Soni must be called truly lucky to get a top line lead pair of Salman – Kareena and a reasonably good budget basing his film completely in Melbourne.

While his film begins well, establishing his main characters and their issues without much deviation to sub plots, he fumbles in the second half.

While there are a few extremely well handled and well penned sequences in the second half, but the points that the film downhill are – unconvincing situations, lack of depth in emotional issues, too simplistic solutions and most importantly you feel zero sympathy for Mr. Khanna (Salman) or Mrs Khanna (Kareena) or even Akash (Sohail).

The drama is just not engaging towards the climax. The actors however have risen above the script and have pitched in wonderful performances.

Salman looks smashing and shows he can play a serious romantic role extremely well too. Kareena looks WOW and acts superbly, especially in the emotional scenes.

Sohail in what one may call one of his career best roles does complete justice to his character and rises much above his written role. Yash Tonk aids him perfectly. He is hilarious in the second half especially in his scenes with Salman.

Nauheed and Mahek Chahal (last seen as the gangster’s moll in Wanted) add glam quotient and act ably. Bappi Lahiri is hilarious as the jewellery shop owner. Deepika Padukone in a special appearance has nothing much to do.

Sajid Wajid’s music is very good and has been well incorporated in the film. Also, the use of RD Burman’s song sung by Amit Kumar – Bade Achche Lagte Hai has been made smartly use of two times in the film.

As you come out of the film, you do keep feeling that film could have been much better had the second half been handled well. But overall its not a bad film and you won’t regret your time wasted watching it.

Pretty Preity and Kajol at Couture Week

Preity and Kajol appearance at HDIL Couture Week

who do you think the best???

New look. New hairdo. New man?

Preity ZintaWhat’s wrong with Preity Zinta? That’s the question fans of the Bollywood style diva are asking ever since she shocked them with her cheerleader-meets-pin-up girl avatar at Salman Khan’s Being Human show at the ongoing HDIL India Couture Week in Mumbai.

Known to be a trendsetter, the actress’s sartorial sense fell flat on Tuesday when she appeared in a micro mini paired with a fitted tee and a drastically different look — copper coloured hair in a fringed bang cut (those are in vogue by the way). With puffy eyes and a plump face, the actress also appeared slightly fuller than she normally is.

While Preity played the perfect cheerleader to dear friend Sallu, shouting and clapping for his celeb models, her own makeover didn’t get a nod of approval from many. In fact, we even overheard someone remark, “She has got the new look just to prove that she has moved on in life post her break-up with Ness.”

Designer Anjana Bhargav said, “Separately, the tee and the mini are quite nice. But with the belt, it is neither here nor there. I can’t call the look formal, nor can I call it casual or hip. It is just mismatched. Oops!”

Designer Pallavi Mohan called her “a very different Preity Zinta”. “A pair of good fit denim might have added much more to the look than this skirt,” she added. Stylist and wardrobe consultant Varsha Bhawnani concurred, “Maybe it’s all about being experimental.”

Meanwhile, it’s not just her new look that’s creating a buzz. Preity is also rumoured to be seeing a Dubai-based businessman named Akash Arora. “Of late, Preity has been spending a lot of time with Arora, whose company provides mobile, internet and live streaming of IPL matches,” reveals a source. Arora is also the co-sponsor of the Mohali Team, which is jointly owned by Preity. Recently, the duo was spotted in Las Vegas, and as per sources, seemed quite into each other.

Ranbir, Imran, SRK to rock Karan’s show

Bollywood’s biggest Khans - on and off-screen arch rivals – Shah Rukh and Salman Khan seem to be on their own power trip amidst the India Couture Week 09. By winning his show a finale position at the ongoing ICW 09, Shah Rukh proved who’s superior when it comes to the number game but Salman too showed who’s more influential amongst the two as he roped in 10 big Bollywood stars for his ‘Being Human’ show!

Salman’s splendid show has taken the show to another level and now the expectations from Karan’s finale are high. The filmmaker, who is launching his clothing line in the fashion week, will have Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan walk the ramp as showstoppers. Karan has designed the outfits with well known designer Varun Bahl.

Bahl revealed, “The theme of our show is ‘Rock star’ and it is going to be purely a men’s formal wear clothing. Shah Rukh will walk the ramp but information about his outfit cannot be divulged now. Gauri will be the only female walking the ramp. Out of the entire collection, 50% of outfits have been designed and styled by Karan, both of us have contributed equally and it’s going to be a good show.”

Meanwhile, Karan Johar has roped in heartthrobs Imran Khan and Ranbir Kapoor who’ll walk the ramp and open his show. “Ranbir and Imran will open my show while Shah Rukh and Gauri will close it,” confirmed Karan.

We hear Priyanka Chopra, Kareena Kapoor, Preity Zinta, Saif and the Bachchans are also expected to come for the show.

Only October 16th will tell which of the two Khans emerge victorious when it comes to the Entertainment quotient of their fashion shows... till then we’ll keep our fingers crossed!

Main Aurr Mrs Khanna (October 16, 2009)

Movie Review
By Taran Adarsh, October 16, 2009 - 11:22 IST

We love drama. That's the staple diet of Bollywood films. Even television shows, till a few months ago, relied too heavily on dramatic moments and twists-n-turns, especially the saas-bahu shows. Of late, the reality shows rely on drama to boost the TRPs.

MAIN AURR MRS. KHANNA, directed by debutante Prem Soni, could've been an interesting story had the drama quotient been a bit stronger. What comes across is too simple and ordinary.

Actually, the problem lies in its writing. It wouldn't be erroneous to say that Prem Soni, the director is letdown by Prem Soni, the writer. The writing gyrates from interesting to ordinary to unconvincing and that bogs the film down. The inconsistency is evident all through.

Final words? This Mr. and Mrs. Khanna won't live happily ever after!

Raina [Kareena Kapoor], Samir [Salman Khan] and Akash [Sohail Khan] are three people whose lives get entwined at an international airport. Samir has to decide whether he wants to stay in the same city [Melbourne] that gave him so much and then took away everything or fly away to a new city [Singapore], to a new life.

Raina has to decide whether her love and loyalty for her husband Samir, who left her to pursue success, is more justified than her faith and trust in her new-found friend, while Akash has to decide whether what he feels for a married woman is lust or true love and whether he's justified in trying to win her at all costs, even at the cost of her marriage.

Now let's analyse…
MAIN AURR MRS. KHANNA makes a promising start. The cracks in the relationship are evident when the husband starts facing problems on the professional front. He tries to re-locate to Singapore, but decides to send his wife to Delhi, to his parents' home. Convincing!

The wife decides to stay back in Melbourne and suddenly meets an 'angel' [Sohail Khan] and a friend's friend [Mahek Chahal], who gets her a job at the airport [within hours of meeting her] and a few scenes later, Mrs. Khanna shifts into a palatial mansion. Wowwwww! How can she afford a palace-like home in Melbourne from the salary that she gets, while working in a shop at the airport? Not convincing!

The wife and angel become friends. The angel is well aware of her marital status, yet loves her dearly. The woman trusts him as a friend. Convincing!

The husband re-surfaces [very quickly]. He's now settled in Singapore, has even bought a house there, he returns to Melbourne to fetch his wife back. Complications arise when the marriage registration letter surfaces. Not convincing!

The question is, why didn't the wife confide in her husband about it? That she had to do it for the work permit? Of course, she states subsequently that she didn't want to complicate things further, but didn't she ever realise that the truth would be out sooner or later?

Also, when the husband is in Singapore, there's scant or zilch communication between the couple, which looks so unreal. There's just one sequence of the wife calling her husband, but the husband isn't responding to the call. Again, not convincing!

The ending is interesting, but the surprise appearance of Deepika Padukone looks forced in the script. Perhaps, it was incorporated so that Sohail doesn't come across as a loser. Strangely, Deepika's name is also Raina [also Kareena's name in the film] and she too was in a relationship with a Samir [also Salman's name], which looks fake.

Prem Soni has handled a few scenes well, but the writing is ineffectual. Dialogue, also by Prem, are wonderful at places. Sajid-Wajid's music is tuneful. 'Don't Say Alvida' and 'Rabba' are melodious compositions. The cinematography is striking. The locales of Melbourne give the film a perfect romantic setting.

Salman handles his part with maturity, but it's a Kareena show all the way. She is remarkable and delivers a winning performance yet again. Sohail contributes to some light moments. Yash Tonk is alright. Mahek Chahal is perfect. Nauheed Cyrusi doesn't get any scope.

The film has several star appearances: Deepika Padukone, Preity Zinta [okay], Dino Morea [hardly there for a few minutes] and Bappil Lahiri [yes, the veteran music composer has a proper role in the film].

On the whole, MAIN AURR MRS. KHANNA is weak in merits. At the box-office, the BLUE wave, followed by another strong opposition in ALL THE BEST will sideline MAIN AURR MRS. KHANNA completely. It's a non-starter!

new look of preity zinta

Preity cheers for Salman!

Bollywood actress Preity Zinta played the role of a perfect cheerleader for dear friend Salman Khan whose "Being Human" show at the ongoing HDIL
Preity Zinta

India Couture Week here late Tuesday saw many celebrities strutting down the ramp.

Dressed in a "Being Human" sleeveless T-shirt and sporting a new look with fringes falling perfectly on her forehead, the actress looked as ravishing as ever.

Sitting with her friend choreographer-turned-director Farah Khan and fashion designer Manish Malhotra, the actress started shouting from the very first moment when Salman Khan started the show and sashayed down the ramp.

"Wow! Salman! Salman!," shouted Zinta and continued clapping till he left the ramp.

It was not just for Salman, she also cheered for other celebrities like Aamir Khan, Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Saif Ali Khan, Govinda, Sanjay Dutt, Katrina Kaif, Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan with equal enthusiasm.

Farah Khan and Manish Malhotra joined her and together left no stone unturned to pep up the atmosphere.

"I must tell you that my throat is already gone. I was so happy that all this shouting and cheering just happened. The show was all about being human and being together. It celebrated togetherness of the industry and this is what had me do all the shouting. But it is worth it," Preity told IANS after the show.

Commenting on Aamir Khan's ramp debut, she said that the actor looked cute.

"I think he was looking very cute on the ramp. He is already so charming and you can't take that away from him," she said.

Salman Khan prefers career to Kareena Kapoor in MAIN AURR Mrs. KHANNA!! [12 Oct 2009]

Salman Khan, the macho man of bollywood who plays the lead character of Mr. Khanna in upcoming mega budget flick ‘Main Aurr Mrs. Khanna’ has his focus on making career rather than on his love interest, Kareena Kapoor.

It is this factor, which makes their relationship sour and gives Sohail Khan an opportunity to explore the possibility of his romantic fling with Kareena Kapoor, who is craving for attention and love from husband, played by Salman Khan.

Director Prem Soni has beautifully tried to explore the depth and dimension of a modern romantic relationship as represented by this couple Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor. Most part of ‘Main Aurr Mrs. Khanna’ has been shot at the beautiful locations of Australia and other foreign countries.

Sources say that the conflict between Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor arises due to time and attention factor, which is a very common cause of break up of marriages in modern times. Before marriage and during romantic days, everything was hunky dory between Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor.

However, everything changes after they get married. Salman Khan wants to build his career and gives more importance to it, but Kareena Kapoor can not tolerate it. She wants the same undivided attention from Salman Khan, as was the case during their care free romantic days before marriage.

This creates tension between the couple and different characters like that of Sohail Khan and Preity Zinta pitched in during this time.

One of the main highlights of the flick is said to be Preity Zinta’s hot number in which she has worn a sexy outfit resembling Aishwarya Rai’s number ‘Kajra re Kajra re…..’ in ‘Bunty aur Babli.’ This navel- revealing outfit and Preity Zinta’s gyrations are said to have created buzz for the film even before its release.

Though Preity Zinta’s outfit is hot like Aishwarya Rai, but unlike Aishwarya, Preity has done a full-fledged role in this Salman Khan-Kareena Kapoor starrer flick. Though it’s not very long, but it is certainly not that short to be dismissed as a mere blink and miss role.

It may be recalled that ‘Main Aurr Mrs. Khanna’ is the same film which had sparked the row between Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan at the Katrina Kaif’s birthday bash around a year ago. Sources say that Salman wanted Shah Rukh to make a friendly appearance in the film but SRK had refused.

This had infuriated Salman Khan in to calling Shah Rukh Khan a selfish and self centered character, which led to animosity between the two actors and finally to ugly fight after SRK made that infamous remark about Aishwarya at the party.

Oh Boy! Shah Rukh Khan's son in KANK was a girl

Mumbai: In the busy world of Bollywood finding a place for themselves are child artists who get fame and fortune at an early age. For some of these artists however there is a price to pay for their fame: an identity crisis.

Seven-year-old Ahsaas Chanana's gender identity has been the subject of controversy in Bollywood for several months.

For more than three years now she's been passed off as a boy in films like Vaastushastra in which she played Sushmita Sen's son, and more recently in Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna where she played Shah Rukh Khan's little sissy boy.

According to the Bollywood grapevine, Ahsaas' mother has always concealed her child's real identity. This even prompted Ahsaas' father to file a case against his wife.

Filmmakers who've worked with Ahsaas in the past confirm that they were always led to believe that Ahsaas is a boy.

"Ahsaas Channa used to speak in masculine manner that led us to believe she’s a boy," said Director of Vaastushastra, Saurabh Narang.

Director Sanjay Gupta's White Feather Films announced its plan to produce a film on the controversy surrounding Ahsaas' identity. But all plans were dropped when the child's mother sent a legal notice to the filmmakers.

Ahsaas is now oblivious to all controversy and admits she's played a boy on screen many times, but has a perfectly logical explanation for that.

"Yes I'm a girl. I have short hair that is why I can do roles of boys,” she explains.

In the movie My Friend Ganesha Ahsaas is going to plays the role of a boy again, perhaps the last time.

In director Kunal Kohli's next, Ahsaas plays a girl named Priya and she is delighted about that.

A far cry from the little boy who insisted he wanted to grow up to be Bollywood's favourite heartthrob hero.

“When I asked her what would you do when you grow, Ahsaas said that she wanted to be like Hrithik Roshan," added Saurabh Narang.

Now Ahsaas has different ambitions and wants to be just like Preity Zinta.

"I want to be like her because she is well mannered, cute and a good actress,” she says

In the industry, ambitious parents should be overlooking the side effects of an identity-confusion, which may just have a deep impact on a delicate young mind.

the making song Happening Main Aur Mrs.Khanna

Preity on a wing and for a song!

— SHARIN WADER BUTANI
TIMES NEWS NETWORK

Preity Zinta, who packed bags and fled Mumbai after a disastrous season at the IPL and the end of an equally disastrous relationship with beau of many years, Ness Wadia, is returning home. But... only for a week. The pert actress, who has been learning swing dancing in LA on this break, is returning to promote her item number Happening from the Salman Khan-Kareena Kapoor film
Main Aurr Mrs Khanna. The film releases on October 16, but the song is a hit already. Preity, naturally, is excited by this... and the opportunity to meet up with friends and catch up with Bollywood before returning to LA. She hasn’t seen the film, naturally, and is eager to do so. Shutterbugs, lookout for the gorgeous actress... she might sneak into a special screening wearing a floppy hat and sunglasses!

Preity Zinta not an 'item girl' in my film: Director

Mumbai, Oct 9 (IANS) She is making a special appearance in a song in his directorial debut 'Main Aurr Mrs. Khanna', but filmmaker Prem R. Soni says it will be 'derogatory to call Preity Zinta an item girl'.

'I have nothing against item girls or item songs. After all, they have time and again managed to spice up the proceedings in so many films. However, in the context of 'Main Aurr Mrs Khanna', it would be really derogatory to call Preity Zinta an item girl,' Soni told IANS.

The actress features in the song, 'Happening'.

The 34-year-old director always wanted Preity in his first film even though he got a dream pair in Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor.

'While I had signed other actors for the film, I always wanted Preity to be a part of it. Actually, I didn't even think about any other options and was dead sure that Preity had to be cast. I told her the same and was adamant that she had to be in it,' said Soni.

Preeti plays Haseen Jagmagiya in the film and, thankfully for Soni, she said 'yes' without much ado.

'Of course, she did have her initial reservations since she hadn't played a part like this before. But then she also said, 'What the heck, let me do it'. She laughed and agreed to be there.

'Believe me, my day was made. I had got all the actors whom I wanted for the film and was raring to bring the film on the floors,' he said.

Preity's presence enhances the entertainment quotient of the film, says Soni.

'But then she is not randomly walking in and walking out of the frames. As Haseena Jagmagiya, she is quite funny and comes at the point in the film when Salman and Kareena are on the verge of making or breaking their relationship as a married couple.'

How about the other angle in the film, Sohail Khan? Does he bring in an extramarital angle?

'Oh, this question has been asked so many times and I am glad that good curiosity is being built around the film, courtesy a smart promotional campaign. However, let me tell you that the film doesn't have an extramarital relationship or cheating angle.

'It just tells the story from the point of view of an outsider. Sohail is someone who looks at Mrs. Khanna (Kareena) and sees the kind of issues that she is facing.

'In fact, whether it is Sohail or even Salman for that matter, both of them have an element of 'main' in them. They see Mrs. Khanna in different ways and this is what forms the crux of the film,' said the director for whom 16 is a lucky number.

Soni has been dreaming of making a film for the past 16 years now.

'Call it destiny, luck, fortune or sheer coincidence, but now my film is releasing on Oct 16. There is someone up in the sky who is certainly smiling at me. He wanted that the number 16 sticks with me. God has himself written 'Main Aurr Mrs. Khanna' for me,' exclaims the filmmaker.

Also starring Yash Tonk in an important role, the film is a co-production of Ronnie Screwala and Sohail. It is releasing on the same day as 'Blue' and 'All The Best'.

Salman loves 'happy' Preity! TNN 9 October 2009, 12:00am IST

Everybody who comes on 10 Ka Dum makes it a point to ask Salman Khan only one thing: When does he plan to get married?

If that fails to get a response then they try to veer the conversation to Katrina Kaif. So when Shehnaz Treasurywala and Sonal Sehgal (the cast of Radio) pinned him down to name his favorite heroine he took his own time before answering.

While the audience waited to hear her name with bated breath, Salman grinned and said “Preity Zinta. I love her bluntness, her jovial nature, her positive thinking. I like her happy personality.” Preity Zinta would be happy to know that and Katrina would not mind it all.

Ashok Amritraj Felicitated on Completion of 100 Films

By SHEILA SHAH
indiawest.comOctober 05, 2009 02:01:00 PM

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. — Industrialist Dr. Bhupendra Kumar Modi honored India-born Hollywood producer Ashok Amritraj Sept. 18 at a celebration at his home here as friends and colleagues gathered to toast Amritraj’s successful completion of 100 films.

Among the guests were members of both the Hollywood and Bollywood elite, including stars Preity Zinta and Anil Kapoor, as well as film executives Richard Fox and Patrick Aiello.

Amritraj, whose films have generated revenues in excess of $1 billion, was all smiles as he graciously accepted the well wishes of his famous guests.

But success didn’t always come quite so easily, Amritraj said. “When I came to Hollywood, there were no Indians in the industry. It was an uphill battle,” he recounted to the gathering. “I did, however, have benefit of being known because of tennis. I would send projects around and get callbacks, but the studio executive would want to talk about his backhand for the first 20 minutes and my project for 30 seconds,” he added.

Born and raised in India, Amritraj moved to the U.S. in 1975 as a professional tennis player. It wasn’t until 1981 that he embarked on a career in the film industry. Although it took him years to establish himself, he credits discipline, hard work and a “cab ride with then unknown actor Jean Claude Van Damme” for his success.

Amritraj has produced such star-driven blockbusters such as “Moonlight Mile” with Tom Hanks, “Bandits” with Bruce Willis, “Bringing Down the House” with Steve Martin, and “Raising Helen” with Kate Hudson.

In 1999, Amritraj formed his own production company, Hyde Park Entertainment. During the past ten years, Hyde Park has grown into a cutting-edge option to the traditional Hollywood studio system by making it one of the few progressive independent companies that encompasses most elements of a full-fledged studio.

But Amritraj has never forgotten where he comes where. Indeed, he discusses India as a continuing source of inspiration.

“My childhood in India was idyllic. It was and is an extraordinary place. I visit whenever I can,” he told India-West.

Event host Modi is the CEO of Spice Corp., a media conglomerate that has interests in telecommunications, technology, financial services and entertainment. He came up with the idea for the celebration during a recent breakfast with Amritraj.

“When he told me he was completing 100 films, I thought to myself, ‘My God, this needs celebration’.”

As Modi nudged guests onto the dance floor he remarked, “Ashok is the reason I’m here. He told me if you want to make movies in Hollywood, you have to buy a house in Hollywood, and here I am.”

An intrepid businessman who is launching a film production and distribution company, Modi remarked, “Even in India we don’t have people who make 100 films. It is amazing what the guy has done.”

Bhuvan Lall, Amritraj’s longtime friend and head of global operations for Spice Corp., assisted in organizing the event.

“He is an inspiration to all Indians in the entertainment business,” Lall told India-West.

As for the future, Amritraj is extremely optimistic. He is set to start work on “The Unbound Captives,” which stars Hugh Jackman and will be directed by Madeline Stow. At a budget of $90 million, this will be his biggest venture to date.

With films being developed with hot young stars like Jessica Alba and Robert Pattison, and business deals with companies in Singapore and Abu Dhabi, Amritraj’s history may just be a hint of great things to come.

As the celebration winded down, Amritraj took a moment to breathe in between talking to guests. Soon after, he flashed his megawatt smile and said, “It has been a wonderful ride.”

MAMK director: Govinda, Priyanka, Lara are not a part of my film

Prem Soni, first time director who would be beginning his Bollywood career with MAIN AURR MRS. KHANNA, has dispelled all rumours that Govinda is a part of the Salman Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Sohail Khan starrer. When the film was announced around a year back, grapevine had insisted that Govinda would have a special appearance in the film, just like that of Preity Zinta. However, Prem Soni goes on record to state that all of this is completely untrue.

''See, we have been hearing these stories for close to a year now. We chose not to react since that would have only resulted in some unnecessary conversations around the film. Instead we remained quiet and finished the film. Now that it is arriving in a fortnight's time, I wish to set the records straight and announce that Govinda won't be seen in my film. He is a fantastic actor but he was never a part of MAIN AURR MRS. KHANNA'', says Prem.

CHECK OUT: MAIN AURR MRS KHANNA Movie Preview

''The film is an out and out Salman-Kareena starrer with Sohail having an important role to play. He is an observer who has quite a few valid points to make. Preity (Zinta) too is a character that makes an intermittent appearance but adds a lot of value to the film's plot. For a lack of better term, she features in an 'item number' but when you would see the film, you would realize that her presence has a much deeper meaning'', he adds.

How about Lara Dutta and Priyanka Chopra? There were talks that the two beauty queens too would be making a special appearance in the film.

''All untrue again'', protests Prem, ''I have no clue that from where did it all start. All I know is that from the very beginning, the film was about Salman and Kareena and that's about it.''

Heralding a weighty revolution

Several litres of water a day, multiple small portions of nutrition-laden meals and regular workout sessions - those are the clandestine ingredients to a Kareena Kapoor-esque figure.

Or at least that’s what Rujuta Diwekar, fitness guru and dietician to stars such as Kareena and Karisma Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Amrita Arora, Konkona Sen Sharma and Preity Zinta, promises us when we get her on the phone.

“I want to revolutionise the way people look at the word diet. It is not a short term solution that you adopt and discard at your convenience. It’s a lifestyle,” comments Diwekar, her tone laced with authority.

And while most weight watchers may already be familiar with this concept, the nutritionist is happy to reiterate it several times during our phone conversation: don’t starve yourself, it just does not work.

She also assures us that contrary to popular speculation her poster client, and good friend, Kareena Kapoor, did not skip even a single of her multiple meals to perfect her Tashan look.

“When reports of Bebo apparently being anorexic first came out, I was pretty shocked and annoyed. After all the dedication she’d put in, people thought it was because of a severe crash diet! But those around her, from her staff to family and friends, realised that she was eating more than ever and still losing weight,” elucidates Diwekar.

So the how does this almost-too-good-to-be-true, mystical system work?

Well, Diwekar tells her clients to follow her ‘Eat Yourself Thin’ mantra; her philosophy is that a dream body is seventy per cent the result of diet and thirty per cent that of exercise.

“My book Don’t Lose Your Mind, Lose Your Weight highlights four principles of eating right. The first is to never wake up to tea or coffee, which is a really common habit. Instead go with fruits or milk. The second one is about eating every two hours, the third says that you should alter your meal size according to your activity level and the fourth is that your last meal should be at least two and a half hours before bedtime,” reveals the dietician.

“What I provide is a broad framework and readers can tailor their diet according to their needs. There are no hard and fast rules such as not eating bananas or rice. The gist of the book is being sensible about your food instead of obsessive.”

This 279-page, best-selling book also contains an anecdotal chapter dedicated completely to Kareena Kapoor and an appendix that comprehensively lists out the diet she followed prior to the shooting of Tashan.

In fact it was the national interest in Kapoor’s newly toned figure that inspired Diwekar to put down her advice into words.

“I encourage my clients to depend on their own stomachs to decide what they should eat, what time they should eat at and what quantity they should eat. Each and every one of us has the capacity to do this on our own, but we tend to sever the connection with our stomachs,” she says.

Unfortunately, to hire the dietician is not as cheap as buying her book; she charges Rs 150,000 (approximately Dhs 15,000) per month in the capacity of a personal trainer.
