UP CLOSE & PERSONAL WITH PZ Shahrukh Khan watch online with the Excerpts from the interview in English

Preity Zinta gets up close and personal with Shah Rukh Khan

Preity Zinta with Shah Rukh Khan on the sets of Up Close & Personal with PZ. Shah Rukh Khan shares the red sofa with Preity Zinta on her show Up Close & Personal with PZ airing on Saturday, October 15, on UTV Stars at 7pm. Excerpts from the interview...

Preity Zinta: We hear that someone asked you to push the release of Ra.One…
Shah Rukh Khan: I won’t name this particular big-time producer-director. He, I remember, called me and was very disturbed. He actually told me that my film would destroy his film at the box office and hence he said that I should postpone my film. All I said is that if you want me to push my film, all you have to do is tell me and there isn’t any need to get disturbed. Fortunately I don’t like or dislike this person; I don’t think about him at all.

Preity: You are reputed to be a thorough romantic. How does that feel?
SRK: I love women. In fact, I hate men. I don’t like their hair, the way they look and the way they behave. On the other hand, women are so soft, gentle, their hair is great and they smell good. They are absolutely delightful. I wish to be surrounded by women all the time. They please my heart.

Preity: What’s your ultimate dream for women around the world?
SRK: I don’t have one, I have two! I have a dream which I know for a fact will never be fulfilled in this life. I want to have a few things — namely, an open-air jeep, a good pair of denims, good sneakers, perfume and a T-shirt with a guitar in my hand. I want to alphabetically go to every country and woo each woman there with a special song. Secondly, I want to cater to sanitation for the women. I want to make toilets for women everywhere for public utility. So that there is no dearth of places for them to freshen up and bathe. Maybe I can stand out(side) and play the guitar for these women in such places.

Preity: You are known to be very protective when it comes to women, considering you have a sister too. Did you ever get involved in fights?
SRK: Yes, plenty of times. Delhiwaalon ki baat hi alag hoti hai. The gunda-gardi is different. We are very different. I have gotten into fights, once with my neighbour too, where I almost was about to hit the person with a stone. Also, I have broken many people’s teeth when I was young.

Preity: I hear you have acted as a monkey in Ramlila in Delhi as a kid...
SRK: Yes, that was fortunately the start of my acting career, so to speak. I was playing a monkey and all I had to do was say “Jai!” Well honestly, it has been long but I still do act like a monkey in my films.

Preity: You lost your parents at a young age. Do you miss them often?
SRK: I miss my parents surprisingly only when I am happy, never when I am sad. I remember an incident very prominently when we had just got a television set home. I was a big fan of football and loved watching matches till late night. I would give foot massage to my mother all night only so that I could get to see television and the sport I loved.

Preity: Why did you think of making a film like Ra.One and that too when it’s turned out to be so expensive?
SRK: I have just been informed that I am officially broke and Ra.One has turned out to be the most expensive film in history. If this film does well, it will go down in history and will be remembered. I am glad I have brought something to India which has never been seen before. I went to all directors to make this film and even my own friends like Karan (Johar) or Aditya (Chopra). They all are lallu I say. I wanted to do something more than a romantic comedy. I am very inspired by Krish and Drona.
